Only the Quran is not fabricated Hadith

Salam,

Hadith according to Wikipedia

The term hadiths is used to denote a saying or an act or tacit approval or criticism ascribed either validly or invalidly to the Islamic prophet Muhammad.
Hadith are regarded by traditional Islamic schools of jurisprudence as important tools for understanding the Quran and in matters of jurisprudence. Hadith were evaluated and gathered into large collections during the 8th and 9th centuries. These works are referred to in matters of Islamic law and history to this day. The two largest denominations of Islam, Shiʻism and Sunnism, have different sets of hadith collections.

The above summary will only means that by the mere claim that the two largest denominations of Islam have different sets of hadiths collection make it susceptible that truth is not common in Islam but it is defined according to the whims and fancies of each denomination. Truth is absolute and it is found only in the Quran and God confirms that it comes only from Him.

Hadith according to Allah

Allah said in the Quran the truth is only from Him and the truth is there is no hadith except that which He has given the Prophet which is the Quran. Thus Quran is the Hadith of the Prophet.

The Truth comes from Allah alone; so be not of those who doubt. (Surah 3:60)

It is He who created the heavens and the earth in true proportions: the day He said, "Be and behold! it is. His word is the truth. His will be the dominion the day the trumpet will be blown. He knows the unseen as well as that which is open. And He is the Wise, well acquainted with all things. (Surah 6:73)

Allah has revealed the most beautiful Alhadith in the form of a Book, consistent with itself, (yet) repeating (its teaching in various aspects): the skins of those who fear their Lord tremble thereat; then their skins and their hearts do soften to the celebration of Allah's praises. Such is the guidance of Allah: He guides there with whom He pleases, but such as Allah leaves to stray, can have none to guide.

But there are, among men, those who purchase frivolous hadith, without knowledge to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a humiliating penalty. (Surah 31:6)

The Quran in itself have warned in the above verses that there will be hadith that will mislead the people and yet very few attempt have been made to expose that the hadiths other than the hadiths of the Quran are in reality the ones that deviate people from the true path set by God in the Quran. A simple example is what is forbidden by God to eat is clearly stated in the Quran in Surah 2:172 and 173 yet the “so called scholars” have created hadiths to add and define many other items as “haram”:

“O you who believe, eat of the good things that We have provided for you, and be grateful to Allah, if it is Him ye worship. He has only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of Allah. But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience or transgressing due limits then is he guiltless. For Allah is Oft-forgiving Most Merciful.”

In spite of this God given grace, one can find fabricated hadiths countering this truth by adding unnecessary portions to that listed in the Quran to make the religion more difficult.

Misinterpretation that led to the fabrication of the hadith

The Quran is clear in directing human to focus on the true message of God and not to rely on hearsay. Anything that is not authenticated and confirmed by God in the Quran is falsehood. The Quran is complete and nothing has been left out by God as guidance to live in this world and for making preparation for the hereafter. Therefore one should not grieve by those who race among themselves to unbelief by manipulating the true message as stated by God to His Messenger for us to ponder and take precaution:

O Messenger! let not those grieve thee, who race each other into unbelief: whether it be among those who say "We believe" with their lips but whose hearts have no faith; or it be among the Jews, men who will listen to any lie, will listen even to others who have never so much as come to thee. They change the words from their right times and places: they say, "If ye are given this, take it, but if not, beware!" If any one's trial is intended by Allah, thou hast no authority in the least for him against Allah. For such - it is not Allah's will to purify their hearts. For them there is disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a heavy punishment. (Surah 5:41)

They have "obedience" on their lips; but when they leave thee, a section of them meditate all night on things very different from what thou tell them. But Allah records their nightly (plots): So keep clear of them and put thy trust in Allah, and enough is Allah as a disposer of affairs. (Surah 4:81)

The verses above show us that it has been an ongoing affairs from the time of the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) until the Day of Judgment that there will be people who preach differently to what the Prophet have been teaching.  The basic teaching of the Prophet is well documented in the Quran and deviation from these teaching can better be understand with reasons that can be deduced from the various verses illustrated in the Quran. This will expose the errors of previous people and be a lesson for the present people who believe only in Allah and His guidance in the Quran.

Surah 2:213 Inability to control one’s ego

Mankind was one single nation, and Allah sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. Allah by His Grace guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed, for Allah guided whom He will to a path that is straight.

It is a natural phenomenon that mankind will always dispute with one another and it is being the reason God send the Book as guidance with clear messages as to be a judgment between right and wrong. But the wrong doers out of their egos will always deviate from the right path to follow their own lust and try to influence others to be with them. A scheme erecting a golden calf that the Samiri did in the time of Moses is a good example to show one who follows his lust but attribute it to the messenger:

(Moses) said: "What then is thy case, O Samiri?" He replied: "I saw what they saw not: so I took a handful (of dust) from the footprint of the Messenger, and threw it (into the calf): thus did my soul suggest to me." (Surah 20:95-96)

If one compares the above case the modus operandi is the same to that of the hadith created after the time of the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh), they claimed it originates from the Prophet Muhammad as shown in the Quran and explained by the compilation of books on hadith or the sunnah of the Prophet. However on thorough examination there is no justification whatsoever between the Quran to the hadith and the sunnah, it is a fabrication. The Prophet lived and is guided only by what is authenticated in the Quran and this is obeying the Words of Allah and we should follow the examples of the Prophet as exhibited of his character in the Quran.

Some verses of the Quran claimed by scholars to validate the hadith.

The most popular of the verses of the Quran incorrectly employed to validate the hadith is the misapplying the end part of Surah 59:7:

……. “So accept whatever the Messenger gives you, and refrain from whatever he forbids you. And fear Allah: verily Allah is Most Stern in retribution”.

They made the interpretation on the above verse that this is the part of the Quran that allows the Prophet total freedom to set his own rulings other than what is stated in the Quran. These rulings can be found in all those books compiled by Muslims, Bokhari, or Abu Daud to mention a few names. However if one reads the whole verses at Surah 59:6-7 it is actually dealing in the distributing of benefits to the people and nothing to do with the so called hadith of the Prophet as compiled in the various books of hadith. The whole verses is limited to rulings that benefits is to be fairly distributed by the Prophet:

Whatever Allah has taken away from them and bestowed (as spoils) on His Messenger for which you spurred neither horses nor camels; but Allah grants authority to His Messengers over whomsoever He pleases. Allah has power over everything. Whatever (from the possessions of the towns people Allah has bestowed on His Messenger belongs to Allah, and to the Messenger, and to his kinsfolk, and to the orphans, and to the needy, and to the wayfarer so that it may not merely circulate between the rich among you. So accept whatever the Messenger gives you, and refrain from whatever he forbids you. And fear Allah: verily Allah is Most Stern in retribution.  (Surah 59:6-7)

The other popular claim on the existence of the hadith is the Surah 53:3 to mean everything that is said and all the actions of the Prophet is inspiration. Since there is his action as stated in the Quran, other than that it is the hadith and the sunnah. As everything is inspirations they made the Prophet infallible. The following verses are referred:

Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) desire. It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: He was taught by one Mighty in Power. (Surah 53:2-5)

On the contrary the inspiration in the above verses referred only to the Quran that is, when the Prophet Muhammad received inspiration on the Quran he is protected from being astray from any evil, the following verses referred:

But for the Grace of Allah to thee and his Mercy, a party of them would certainly have plotted to lead thee astray. But (in fact) they will only lead their own souls astray, and to thee they can do no harm in the least. For Allah hath sent down to thee the Book and wisdom and taught thee what thou knew not (before): And great is the Grace of Allah unto thee. (Surah 4:113)

And their purpose was to tempt thee away from that which We had revealed unto thee, to substitute in our name something quite different; (in that case), behold! They would certainly have made thee (their) friend! And had We not given thee strength, thou wouldst nearly have inclined to them a little. (Surah 17:73-74)

However as a man the Prophet is not infallible he made some mistakes and this is normal in man. The following is proof that not all of what he said and done are inspiration:

He was cautioned when he made thing forbidden “haram” which is allowed by Allah and this is mentioned in the Quran:

O Prophet! Why hold thou to be forbidden that which Allah has made lawful to thee? Thou seek to please thy consorts. But Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Surah 66:1)

The other instance is described while he was enthusiastic to spread the religion he snubbed a blind man as stated in the following verses:

(The Prophet) frowned and turned away, because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)? Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, to him dost thou attend; though it is no blame to thee if he grew not (in spiritual understanding). But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, And with fear (in his heart), of him was thou unmindful. (Surah 80:1-10)

Then there is the case with Zaid’s wife. Initially the Prophet decline God’s instruction to marry Zaid’s divorced wife as he felt abashed with the tradition of his community marrying the wife of the adopted son is as good as marrying the wife of his own son. But the instruction of God is not without its purpose and he has to obey as implies in the following verse:

Behold! Thou didst say to one who had received the grace of Allah and thy favor: "Retain thou (in wedlock) thy wife, and fear Allah." But thou did hide in thy heart that which Allah was about to make manifest: thou did fear the people, but it is more fitting that thou should fear Allah. Then when Zaid had dissolved (his marriage) with her, with the necessary (formality), We joined her in marriage to thee: in order that (in future) there may be no difficulty to the Believers in (the matter of) marriage with the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have dissolved with the necessary (formality) (their marriage) with them. And Allah's command must be fulfilled. (Surah 33:37)

So from the various examples above the scholars claiming the hadith is also inspiration from God to the Prophet is proven false. There is no evidence that besides the Quran the Prophet received other inspiration as guidance for mankind. The hadith and the sunnah in fact create the controversial that the Quran is incomplete and not fully detailed and therefore contradict the following verses of the Quran:

There is not an animal (that lives) on the earth or a being that flies on its wings, but (forms part of) communities like you. Nothing have we omitted from the Book, and they (all) shall be gathered to their Lord in the end. (Surah 6:38)

For We had certainly sent unto them a Book, based on knowledge, which We explained in detail, a guide and a mercy to all who believe. (Surah 7:52)

And finally the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) was commanded by Allah to follow and preach only the Words of God and this is found only in the Quran:

O Prophet! Fear Allah, and hearken not to the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites: verily Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom. But follow that which comes to thee by inspiration from thy Lord: for Allah is well acquainted with (all) that ye do.
(Surah 33:1-2)

And the Prophet said:

Say: "O men! I am sent unto you all, as the Messenger of Allah, to Whom belong the dominion of the heavens and the earth: there is no god but He: it is He That give both life and death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the Unlettered Prophet, who believe in Allah and His words: follow him that (so) ye may be guided." (Surah 7:158)

And this is a Book which We have revealed as a blessing: so follow it and be righteous, that ye may receive mercy: (Surah 6:155)

Thus obey Allah and obey the Messenger means obey Allah and the Messenger who obey Allah’s Words in the Quran. Similarly in Surah 4:59 obey Allah and obey the Messenger and obey those charged with authority among you is also to obey them as what is stated in the Quran and not any other compilations not sanctioned by Allah.

  1. Exactly i agree with you if we obey Allah and obey the Messenger means obey Allah and the Messenger who obey Allah’s Words in the Quran.
