Below are given more claim by the disbelievers of contradictions of the Quran

 

Misconceived contradiction of the creation of man

What was man created from: blood, clay, dust, or nothing?1."Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood," (96:2). 2."We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape, (15:26). 3."The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: "Be". And he was," (3:59). 4."But does not man call to mind that We created him before out of nothing?" (19:67, Yusuf Ali). Also, 52:35). 5."He has created man from a sperm-drop; and behold this same (man) becomes an open disputer! (16:4).

 

Refutation: It is God’s procedure when He created anything it is a process from nothing to something. Similarly when He created man in the beginning there was no human and He begins the process of creating man from nothing S19:67. He then created the elements essential for the creation of mankind which is clay (S15:26) mixed with water (S25:54) into mud molded into shape at S15:26. The sticky mud is turned into sperm (S36:77) and thus the process become clear as in Surah 22:5 O mankind! if ye have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then do We bring you out as babes, then (foster you) that ye may reach your age of full strength. And Allah gives us the things which we did not have before as stated: Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight (S76:2). There is therefore no contradiction in the Quran as it is a procedure of creation by Allah.

 

 

Misconceived contradiction on the compulsion of religion

Is there or is there not compulsion in religion according to the Qur'an? 1."Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things," (2:256). 2."And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage, that Allah and His Messenger dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith," (9:3). 3."But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful," (9:5). 4.Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued," (9:29).

 

Refutation: According to the Quran a Muslim who refused to pay the zakat is classified under the same category as the pagan as stated in the following verses: Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah (Pagan), Those who practice not regular charity (zakat), and who even deny the Hereafter (S41:6-7).These category who did not pay the zakat were classified as pagans and until they pay the zakat war was declared upon them unless they repent by paying the zakat and establish regular prayers. Similarly the People of the Book they have to pay the Jizya which is the equivalent of the zakat paid by the Muslims at a standard rate of 1/5 or 20 percent of their income as stated:  And know that out of all the booty that ye may acquire, a fifth share is assigned to Allah, and to the Messenger, and to near relatives, orphans, the needy, and the wayfarer, if ye do believe in Allah and in the revelation We sent down to Our servant on the Day of Testing, the Day of the meeting of the two forces. For Allah hath power over all things (S8:41). Repent here is referred to the due payment of zakat or jizya which were due to the authority which have to be settled. So this has nothing to do with freedom of religion but it is regarding on taxable income which is enforced on the whole community irrespective of one’s religion.

 

 

Misconceived contradiction of who was the first Muslim

The first Muslim was Muhammad? Abraham? Jacob? Moses?1."And I [Muhammad] am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah in Islam," (39:12). 2."When Moses came to the place appointed by Us, and his Lord addressed him, He said: "O my Lord! show (Thyself) to me, that I may look upon thee." Allah said: "By no means canst thou see Me (direct); But look upon the mount; if it abide in its place, then shalt thou see Me." When his Lord manifested His glory on the Mount, He made it as dust. And Moses fell down in a swoon. When he recovered his senses he said: "Glory be to Thee! To Thee I turn in repentance, and I am the first to believe." (7:143). 3."And this was the legacy that Abraham left to his sons, and so did Jacob; "Oh my sons! Allah hath chosen the Faith for you; then die not except in the Faith of Islam," (2:132).

 

Refutation: In all the above verses mentioned it is not about who was the first to become a Muslim but it is more of a declaration that submission to Allah and to believe in Him is one’s most priority than anything else. To be the first is to be foremost or to put his best being a Muslim. This is shown Pharaoh’s sorcerers surrendered themselves to become Muslim they declared: "Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!" (S26:51). Thus there is no dispute to claim who is the first Muslim but rather a commitment to be of the foremost in believing in Allah and being a committed Muslim.

 

 

Misconceived contradiction of Allah forgiveness

Does Allah forgive or not forgive those who worship false gods? 1.Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed," (4:48).  Also 4:116. 2.The people of the Book ask thee to cause a book to descend to them from heaven: Indeed they asked Moses for an even greater (miracle), for they said: "Show us Allah in public," but they were dazed for their presumption, with thunder and lightning. Yet they worshipped the calf even after clear signs had come to them; even so we forgave them; and gave Moses manifest proofs of authority," (4:153).

 

Refutation: Putting partners to God and worshipping other gods is two different things. Allah may forgive those who worshipped other gods maybe out of ignorance but when putting partners to God it is done deliberately with comprehension. The reason putting partners to God is the most heinous crime because the fabricator is giving authority that partners the same status of all the attributes of God the Al Mighty. This is blatantly unacceptable as the One and only God is described as follows: Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him. (S112). A clear example of putting partners to God is making Jesus as god as stated: They do blaspheme who say: "Allah is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! Worship Allah my Lord and your Lord" Whoever joins other gods with Allah, Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help. (S5:72)

 

 

Below is an example of an actual debate how a misconceived contradiction is refuted:

Misconceived contradiction over how many surah God put a challenge to the disbelievers – is it S2:23 & 10:38 one surah or S11:13 ten surah

 

John said when we read 10:38, there is not mentioned that first Allah said that they must show 10 surahs. Furthermore 2:23-24 comes earlier than 11:13, so first Allah said they must give one surah and later Allah said they must give 10 surahs. To free thinking people, with a brain given by the Divine Creator of Heaven and Earth is a bit confusing.

 

Asar commented 2:23 is saying a surah like unto it meaning if you choose Surah Fath the Opening do your one surah like unto it write 7 verses. Similarly 10 surah you choose 10 from the Quran calculate the no of verses and do like unto it but the condition Allah impose, is that you get your help from others besides Him. I don’t see any contradiction.  You try one like the opening Surah and we will see if it is absolute without contradiction.

 

John said Asar, first we read in 2:23-24 they need one surah, second in 11:13 they need ten surahs and finally in 28:49 a complete book of 100+ surahs. It is getting more and more. The Qur'an verses are not in agreement with each other. How many surahs does an unbeliever need to provide? 1, 10 or 100+?

 

Asar replied it is situational 2:23 if the unbeliever were in doubt to what Allah has reveal He challenge them to bring a surah like unto it. 10:37 if the unbelievers say he forged it then bring a surah like unto it. But in 11:13 when they say he forged it Allah demand from the unbeliever ten surah that is forged in the Quran and they are to produce the like thereof. However your quote at S28:49 has nothing to do with challenging to produce many surah to form a book but to bring forward any book that they think can give better guidance than the two books of Allah’s. There is no contradiction you misapprehend the meaning of those verses.

 

John said thanks for the interesting reply. It is true that there are different situations in the verses. However the question remains why there is a difference in the quantity? In all situations it is about the fact that unbelievers don't believe in the Koran and from the event it is clear that the unbelievers also have a message. We still have the question why in 2:23-24 only one surah is enough, while in the others much more is needed. It would be logical and understandable to avoid any number; in that case there would not be any contradiction for a non-Muslim

 

Asar replied unbelievers should understand that the Quran came down in stages S17:106 a challenge to produce one surah may happen when the Quran was a book with three surahs and a challenge for ten surahs when the Quran was with 20 surahs. Only when it is a completed book a challenge was made to the whole nation of mankind and Jinns at S17:88 to produce the like of this book. The number is a test for those who seek to believe or disbelieve. Therefore there is no contradiction whether one surah or ten surahs is offered to be challenged it is situational.

Misconceived contradiction of the moon and the heavens

The moon is further away than stars;  Quran 71;16 "moon in the midst of 7 heavens" 37;6 "stars in the lower/nearest heaven"   this is false, the moon is the nearest natural object to us, so is NOT in the midst of stars (or further)  stars are much further away

 

The full sentence of the Quran with Arabic words:

“See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, “And made the moon a light in their midst (fihinna) and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? Surah 71:15-16. And in another verse: We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars (Surah 37:6)

 

REFUTATION: There is no contradiction in the above verse as the Arabic text “fihinna” in Surah 71:16 actually means ‘in it’ and not the mistranslation “midst”. The word “midst” in Arabic is “sawaa e” as the example shown here in Surah 37:55 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the fire. So the accuser of the contradiction lacked the knowledge of Arabic to forward his point.

 

 

Misconceived contradiction over created pairs

Quran 51;49 "everything created in pairs"  asexuals?  

 

REFUTATION: As a pair Allah created the night and the day, darkness and light, heaven and hell and so is the above asexual is paired with sexual. This can be seen in the production of new individuals or offspring in plants, which can be accomplished by sexual or asexual reproduction. Sexual reproduction produces offspring by the fusion of gametes, resulting in offspring genetically different from the parent or parents. Asexual reproduction produces new individuals without the fusion of gametes, genetically identical to the parent plants and each other, except when mutations occur. There is therefore no contradiction in the Quran over verse 51:49.”Everything We have created pairs”

 

 

Misconceived contradiction over stars as missiles, the moon and the sun

Quran 67;5 stars are 'missiles to drive away devils'.  Quran 21: 33 "And the Sun and Moon; both of them float along in its orbit"-------- this clearly implies the sun goes around the earth. Quran 91;2 "the moon follows the sun"  this is false, the moon has its own orbit.. Qur'an, 71:16 "placed the moon as a light" the moon has no light. the word reflected (in`ikaas) does not appear in this sentence

 

REFUTATION: There is no contradiction in Surah 67:5 as it says: And certainly We have adorned this lower heaven with lamps and We have made these missiles for the Shaitans, and We have prepared for them the chastisement of burning. Allah did not use the stars as missiles as wrongly claimed but He used lamps as missiles as the meaning of lamps is correctly as a device that generate light and often heat.

 

The Surah 21:33 did not implies the sun goes around the earth or in Surah 91:2 showing the moon has its own orbit, it just shows with the naked eyes that the sun comes out during the day and the moon comes out during the night and that will flow the night and the day every day.

 

Of course the moon does not have light of its own. The light we see from the moon is the light of the sun reflected toward earth. The sun is the primary source of light as stated: It is He Who made the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light (of beauty), (Surah 10:5). However this reflection will disappear when the sun is darkened as shown in the Quran: When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; and when the stars fall losing their lustre. (Surah 81:1-2). There will be no light whether to the stars or the moon as there is no more reflection from the sun. Thus there is no contradiction here.

 

 

Misconceived contradiction over the big bang

Quran 21;30 "heaven and earth used to be joined together before the ‘big bang"

The earth did not exist before the big bang.

 

REFUTATION: There can be many earth and many big bangs as Allah is Great He is able to repeat His creation as He created the earth He destroyed and recreate it and it is easy for Him as stated: See they not that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, has power to create the like of them (anew)? (Surah 17:99); See they not how Allah originates creation, then repeats it: truly that is easy for Allah (Surah 29:19) The Day that We roll up the heavens like a scroll rolled up for books (completed), even as We produced the first creation, so shall We produce a new one: a promise We have undertaken: truly shall We fulfil it (Surah 21:104). So this is only the misconceived of the accuser of the Quran but it is certainly not a contradiction.

 

 

 

Misconceived contradiction there is no gap or discrepancy in the universe

Quran 67:3 there are no gaps or discrepencies in the universe  this is false, black holes are regions of space from which nothing, including light, can escape.

 

The full verse as stated in the Quran is as follow: Who created seven heavens one upon another. Thou seest not in the creation of the All-merciful any imperfection. Return thy gaze; seest thou any fissure? (Surah 67:3)

 

REFUTATION: In the above message Allah is speaking about His perfection in creating the universe and the black holes and galaxies are all part of His creation. Although the black holes is full of mystery some aspect have been known that It is an extremely massive and dense object in space that is thought to be formed by a star collapsing under its own gravity. Just because black holes are black, because nothing, not even light, can escape from its extreme gravity does not mean God is imperfect in His creation. He has His reason and purpose for His creation and His creation goes beyond the black holes still unknown to human minds. There is no contradiction.

 

 

Misconceived contradiction God sends earthquakes only to non-Muslim nations

Quran 17:16 God sends earthquakes only to non-muslim nations this is false. the higest death tolls from natural disasters this millennia were muslim countries  2004 indonesia; 170000 dead - 2005 kashmir; 86000 dead - 2003 bam iran; 30000 dead

 

The verse do not match the accusation claim of the above and this is the actual words in the Quran: When We decide to destroy a population, We (first) send a definite order to those among them who are given the good things of this life and yet transgress; so that the word is proved true against them: then (it is) We destroy them utterly (Surah 17:16)  

 

REFUTATION: In the verse stated above there is no such description that God sends earth quakes to only to non-Muslim nations it is stated that whoever transgress against God will be destroyed as and when He wills it. The example shown in earth quakes are those who reject the apostles of God as stated in these verses: The leaders, the unbelievers among his people, said: "If ye follow Shu'aib, be sure then ye are ruined!" But the earthquake took them unawares, and they lay prostrate in their homes before the morning! (Surah 7:90-91). To the Madyan (people) (We sent) their brother Shu'aib. then he said: "O my people! serve Allah, and fear the Last Day: nor commit evil on the earth, with intent to do mischief." But they rejected him: Then the mighty earthquake seized them, and they lay prostrate in their homes by the morning. (Surah 29:36-37). And in another example it is stated:  How many populations have We destroyed, which were given to wrong-doing? They tumbled down on their roofs. And how many wells are lying idle and neglected, and castles lofty and well-built? (Surah 22:45). So God destroy a population based of their wrong doings rather than nation. So this is misinformation of the accuser of the contradiction.

The Quran is a perfect Book from Allah and there is no contradiction or error as it is stated: Do they not consider the Qur'an (with care)? Had it been from other Than Allah, they would surely have found therein much discrepancy. (Surah 4:82). Some readers may have looked at certain verses and claim it to be in contradiction but the Quran must be deliberated in totality as a whole Book then it will expunge misconceived contradictions to the ultimate truth of the message.

 

 

Misconceived contradictions over the people of Aad

 

The claim that the Quran at Surah 54:19 mentions Aad was destroyed in a day but in Quran at Surah 69:6 & 7 mention that Aad was destroyed in seven nights and eight days.  The complete verses are as stated below:

 

For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, (Surah 54:19)

 

And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down!  (Surah 69:6-7)

 

The Surah 54:19 clearly says Allah sent against them on a day of violent disaster not destroyed them in a day. That day of violent disaster continues for seven nights and eight days as stated in Surah 69:7.  

 

 

Misconceived contradictions over Mary with the angel

 

It is claimed that in the Quran at Surah 19:17 shows an angel appeared to Mary but while in the Quran at verse 3:42 shows several angels appeared. This appears as a contradiction whether one angel or many angels visited Mary. The full verses are stated below:

 

She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects. (Surah 19:17).

Behold! The angels said: "O Mary! Allah hath chosen thee and purified thee- chosen thee above the women of all nations. (Surah 3:42)

There is no contradiction in the above as Mary was visited twice by a group of angels who announced to her that she was chosen and to worship Allah. The other time was when an angel visited her to announce of a son at Surah 19:17-21.

 

Misconceived contradictions over Pharaoh’s body and soul

The disputer claimed that the Quran at Surah 28:40 mentions Pharaoh drowned and died but in Quran 10:92 states that the same Pharaoh was saved. Both the verses are stated below:

 

So We seized him and his hosts, and We flung them into the sea: Now behold what was the end of those who did wrong! (Surah 28:40).

 

"This day shall We save thee in the body, that thou mayest be a sign to those who come after thee! but verily, many among mankind are heedless of Our Signs!" (Surah 10:92).

 

This is a simple case which one should be aware between the soul and the body. At death Allah take the soul from the body as stated in this verse of the Quran: It is Allah that takes the souls at death; and those that dies not He takes during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back from returning to life, but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed verily in this are Signs for those who reflect. (Surah 39:42).

 

Death means the soul is separated from the body and taken away by Allah and human is no more functioning. This is what had happened to Pharaoh his soul was taken but at Surah 10:92 Allah saved not the soul instead He saved Pharaoh’s body from rotting.  This is mummifying of the Egyptian Pharaohs of their bodies and until today the bodies remain intact but their souls were taken back until the Day of Judgment. So the body of Pharaoh was saved not of his soul from death. The body is preserved as a sign for future generation to ponder of his misdeeds.

 

 

Misconceived contradictions the sun set over a muddy spring of water

 

Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a people: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness." (Surah 18:86)

 

It is claimed that the Quran at Surah 18:86 states that the sun sets in a muddy spring of water. To them this is an illogical statement in the Quran as the sun did not set at any place at all.

 

However those people were confused and refused to acknowledge that the Surah 18:86 is an allegorical verse to show this person by the name of Zulkarnain made the travel to the deepest west where the sun indicated as if it sets over a dark horizon as if it set in a muddy spring. Nevertheless there is another verse allegorical in nature a few verses away from Surah 18:86 which says “Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had provided no covering protection against the sun” at Surah 18:90 again an allegorical which indicates that he went to the farthest east part of the world where the sun rises. Thus it does not mean the sun actually set in murky water or it rises over the head of a person. Both verses are allegorical.

 

 

Misconceived contradictions over Surah 15:19 stating the earth is flat.

 

And the earth We have spread out (like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance. (Surah 15:19)

 

There is nothing wrong with the earth is flat because the land was created by Allah originally flat and He covered it later with mountains as stated in the above verse. Before the Day of Judgment Allah will demolish the mountain and the earth will be flattened again without any mountain. The following verses of the Quran were referred:

 

And when the earth is flattened out (Surah 84:3); They ask thee concerning the mountains: say, "My Lord will uproot them and scatter them as dust; "He will leave them as plains smooth and level (Surah 20:105-106) and the verse which states: One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. (Surah 73:14)

 

 

Misconceived contradiction over Surah 86:6-7 mentioning that semen emits from between back-bone and the ribs. 

 

He is created from a drop emitted, Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! (Surah 86:6-8)

 

There is no contradiction with the verses that quoted: He is created from a drop/water emitted-proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs. The water first will flow into the throat and pressured downward all over the body. This can be just explained in common sense.

 

 

Misconceived contradiction the Quran 19:27-28 says that Mary was the sister of Aaron, whereas history shows they were born about 1300 years apart.

 

At length she brought the (babe) to her people, carrying him (in her arms). They said: "O Mary! Truly an amazing thing hast thou brought! "O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!" (Surah 19:27-28)

 

The Quran does not view the above verses as the Jews or the Christians view their Book where Mary and Aaron were then sister and brother of Moses. Sister in the above verse means Mary is the relative or descendant of Aaron instead of Moses. Moses and Aaron have the same mother but different father resulting in two family trees as stated in the Quran: And further their Prophet said to them: "A Sign of his authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant, with (an assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of Moses and the family of Aaron, carried by angels. In this is a symbol for you if ye indeed have faith." (Surah 2:248).

 

The Quran is showing Mary was a descendant of Aaron instead of Moses.

 

 

Misconceived contradiction that the Quran at Surah 28:8 says that pharaoh and Haman were living at the same time and place whereas history clearly shows that they were born about 1000 years apart and pharaoh lived in Egypt and Haman lived in Shushan city in Persia.

 

 

History can pick the same name to provide the contradiction but it is not a contradiction in the Quran as Moses, Pharaoh and Haman were all contemporary and their story is the truth from Allah as the Quran is the truth from Allah as stated: We rehearse to thee some of the story of Moses and Pharaoh in Truth, for people who believe. (Surah 28:3)

 

 

Those who claimed the Quran is full of contradictions did not read the Quran in detailed had they done so they would realized that the Quran is the Book from God and He will protect it from any crookedness and this is the reason these kind of verses were inspired to the Prophet as a challenge to the disbelievers:

 

It is a Qur'an in Arabic, without any crookedness (therein): in order that they may guard against Evil. (Surah 39:28)

 

Do they not consider the Qur'an (with care)? Had it been from other Than Allah, they would surely have found therein much discrepancy. (Surah 4:82)

 

This Qur'an is not such as can be produced by other than Allah; on the contrary it is a confirmation of (revelations) that went before it, and a fuller explanation of the Book - wherein there is no doubt - from the Lord of the worlds. (Surah 10:37)
